When I found out that one of my best friends from college was going to be in France during the same time I was in Switzerland we both extended our work trips to meet up for a girls weekend of champagne tasting. We found an adorable Airbnb (here's the link) in the city of Reims which is only a 45 minute train ride from Paris and in the heart of France's Champagne-Ardenne region. This is where all my favorite grapes come from. Reims is filled with French charm, great restaurants, and the breathtakingly beautiful Notre-Dame de Reims where the kings of France were crowned.
I highly recommend booking a rental car to explore the city's surrounding vineyards and champagne houses too - just make sure you know how to drive a stick shift! We took a scenic road trip outside the city, winding through quaint towns and champagne vineyards. *Le Sigh* One of the highlights from our weekend was visiting the PerchingBar, bar à champagne dans les arbes, which translates to champagne bar in the trees. My dream tree house!
After a night of singing French karaoke (mostly Celine Dion) with locals until dawn it was a slow start on our last day, but nothing a croque-monsieur can't fix. We ended the weekend with a visit to the fairytale-like Champagne Pommery house for a tour of their caves and incase we didn't have enough it - more delicious bubbly.
A bientôt Reims!!
