48 hours in seattle

Two things used to come to mind when I thought about Seattle: Starbucks and lots of rain. Alright, you got me. I really didn’t know much about this coastal city. But I’ve been drawn to the Pacific Northwest lately (I blame my Instagram friends). So when Hampton by Hilton invited me to join their Ultimate Seekender Team and show others how I seize the weekend to explore, Seattle was my first choice. A Seekender is anyone who's thirsty for new experiences in place of material things. And when it comes to experiences, I'm a sucker for spontaneous weekend getaways!

Seattle is only a short 2-hour flight from LA. My boyfriend Jake and I arrived late Friday night and checked into our room at the Hampton by Hilton in the trendy neighborhood called Bellevue (an up-and-coming hot spot) just 10 minutes from downtown Seattle. It was perfect! Everything was very clean, modern and the beds were super cozy.

We got an early start the next day, grabbing a coffee from the lobby on our way out. Fremont and Ballard were recommended as must-see Seattle neighborhoods, so we wasted no time in checking them out. We started in Fremont, where we had the most delicious brunch at this place called, Revel. The menu was a fusion of traditional comfort food with Korean street food. It was uh-mazing. And the sticky bun was heavenly. Warm, and heavenly.

We spent the rest of the morning walking around Fremont, stopping in a few shops and     stumbled across the most amazing vintage store called the Fremont Vintage Mall. Fremont definitely felt like more of the local scene, which I loved! I think the best way to explore a new city is by getting the authentic, local point of view. Don’t you agree?

After Fremont, we headed to Blue Lake. If I lived in Seattle, I could definitely see myself here a lot. It seemed like a great spot to go for a run, paddle board/kayak, or simply unwind after a long day.

That same afternoon we went for a short hike at Discovery Park. There were wild raspberries everywhere! They were a nice little treat before dinner at The Walrus and the Carpenter, a place known for their raw oysters and seafood. It definitely didn’t disappoint! After dinner we headed to Ballard for some late night drinks and festivities. We started with apothecary-style cocktails at Percy’s & Co. and wound up finding an 80’s house-party down the street with a few new friends!

On Sunday, we started things off with brunch at the most charming restaurant, The London Plane. Any restaurant that has it’s own florist shop inside gets an ‘A’ in my book. There was a long wait so we headed to a cool little coffee shop right around the corner called Elm Coffee Roasters. We recharged the batteries a bit and headed back to The London Plane for brunch, noshing on avocado toast, spicy kimchee rice with fried eggs, and more. I know I said it earlier, but it was uh-mazing. I was definitely blown away by all the food. I don’t think we had one bad meal during our whole trip.

After brunch we had to go see Pike’s Place Market. Note to self (and anyone else planning on going to Seattle), don’t go to Pike's Place Market on a warm, sunny Sunday. Don’t get me wrong, it was a really cool place. And I could see how it could be a really great spot on a weekday, but it was so so packed and hot inside that we decided to walk a few blocks away and ended up finding the cutest little shop full of treasures called Moorea Seal.

Later that day, we cooled down with local homemade ice cream from Molly Moon’s and stopped in the lovely Totokaelo and Glasswing shops. We enjoyed our last dinner with some rosé from the rooftop patio of Terra Plata and capped the day off watching the sunset over the city skyline at Kerry Park. It was the perfect ending to an incredible weekend adventure in Seattle. Special thanks to Hampton by Hilton for making it all happen and inspiring us to make the most of our weekends!
